Is telling Americans they are getting a bipartisan tax cut simply a prophylaxis? Is this the type of thing that, if it were to break, you would be sued in Sweden?

Well, in one year we'll be arguing about why the payroll tax can't increase to its "normal level" for Social Security, which will in turn be threatened over the coming years. Then, the following year we'll be having the same argument about "raising taxes" on the wealthy to the level they were at before the "temporary" Bush tax cuts. I don't know when the thought that sometimes you may have to raise taxes became so taboo in this country, but it's nearly impossible to balance the budget without doing it.
